We do need your help.  Mountain Top has no endowment or other sustaining funds.  Each year we have to depend on people like you for help.  We manage our dollars closely and try to make every dollar given toward capital improvements worth two or more through “in kind” gifts.

As an example, to date we were given all the architecture, engineering, renderings, and printing for recent expansions, and a United Methodist Men group committed the volunteer labor.  As a result of the initial funding we obtained, we were able to go out into our communities and obtain additional gifts like roofs, flooring, doors, windows, plumbing, lumber, paint, electrical, appliances, heating equipment, and labor.  We had some twenty week-long volunteer teams from over the entire country stay in our “bunk house” and help with the chores.  Most Saturdays for over two years there were local work groups participating in the dream.

Capital Improvement gifts to construct buildings, therefore, are not so hard to find for us.  We have no debt, we are careful how we spend our money, and people who know us, know that.  They are proud of their gifts.  Every dollar given toward construction at Mountain Top has been more than doubled with hard gifts and again with volunteers’ time.  You give us a quarter, and we will get a dollar’s value.  We just need a whole bunch of quarters.

Operating Capital, however, the day to day cost of doing our job, is tough money to find.  Because we have no endowment, we have to scramble every single year to find funds to supplement what the State pays us.  You have certainly heard the news -- times are tough.  The State is hitting us hard now; they require much more and pay less.  We need your help to do our job, just that simple.  While we need a lot and want big help, it is the twenty dollar per month crowd that gives us our base.

For each of the dollars we receive that go into our operating fund, ninety-six cents goes directly to our programs.  We are tight with our dollars, but without your support we could not make even the smallest difference in the lives of the boys and families we help because our programs would cease to exist.  Whatever size gift comes from your heart will be gratefully received.  You can be assured it will be appreciated and multiplied.

There are few places YOU can give where you know that just about all of your gifts go directly to the program.  If you will please do what you can do best, give through your heart, we will continue to do what we do best -- make VALUABLE boys into PRICELESS men.
